On February 11, 2025, the National Institute for Research in Education, in partnership with Algeria Telecom and in coordination with the Directorate of Education of the wilaya of Medea, organized the first stop of the national awareness caravan on the risks related to the use of social media. In the presence of 60 teachers from 06 intermediate schools from the wilaya of Medea, supervised by 15 counselors for school and vocational guidance, and the meeting was attended by 52 parents of students to participate in the awareness campaign.
The activities of the awareness convoy at Khaled bin Zmirli High School began with a speech by the Director of Education of the wilaya of Medea, Mr. Zinedine Ben Bouzid, followed by the speech of the Director of the secondary school hosting the awareness convoy, and then a speech on behalf of Algeria Telecom, to be delivered by the Director of the National Institute for Research in Education, Prof. Radia Barnaoui, announcing the official opening of the awareness convoy in the state of Medea.
After that, the Director of the National Institute for Research in Education and the Director signed a cooperation framework agreement between the Institute and the Directorate. Which aims to consolidate real research and educational cooperation relations, which serves the development of the educational system and the improvement of educational practices.
After the end of the opening paragraph, Dr. Abdelhamid Abi Ismail gave an opening lecture in the presence of all parents and students entitled Awareness Campaign on Social Media: Definition and Motivations. After that, two paragraphs began in parallel, where the research professors from the National Institute for Research in Education kindly presented three interactive lectures in the lecture hall with the parents of the students, led by Dr. Fadhila Saadat with a lecture entitled: The psychological risks of social media, then a lecture entitled: Employing social media in education, presented by Dr. Hamza Zergui, and Dr. Ouaffa Elbar presented a lecture on positive digital censorship.
At the same time, the animators from Algeria Telecom presented two workshops for students at the departmental level, a workshop on digital identity management and a workshop on good practices on the Internet, and each of the activists included the topic of responsible digital culture in the two workshops provided to students, in the presence of school and vocational guidance counselors.
To conclude the activities of the awareness convoy by distributing clippings and questionnaires to the participants in the awareness convoy (students and parents) to explore their opinions and take their impressions about the awareness convoy.
